Help Us Build Acorn Farm’s New Hub

Why We Need a New Farm Hub

Our existing farm building was constructed in 1987, when Acorn Farm was established, and is no longer suitable for the number of visitors we now welcome. We therefore have ambitious plans to build a new farm hub with a much larger shop and café, improved toilet facilities and better accessibility for visitors, service users and staff.

With the need for improved facilities continuing to grow, now is the right time to turn this long-held dream into reality.

For several years, our landlord, KMBC, has wanted to reconfigure the farm by relocating the Moses paddocks to an adjoining site. This would release the existing Moses paddocks and adjacent fields for commercial development, generating much-needed income for the borough.

After extensive discussion, we agreed that KMBC would fund the relocation of the services and facilities from the Moses paddocks to the new site. This work included new paddocks, fencing, animal shelters, paths and a water supply. As our lease did not have long to run, agreeing to the proposal also helped us secure the farm’s future.

Our New Site

Our new site is now open, with new paddocks and shelters in place. The paddocks are home to:

  • Donkeys
  • Goats
  • Sheep
  • Cattle

These animals are rotated with those on the main farm site to support their care and grazing needs.

We have also made use of the land reserved for the new building by creating an additional grazing paddock. The animals will continue to use this area until we have raised enough funds to build the new farm hub.

Our Plans for the New Hub

In the meantime, plans have been drawn up for the new farm hub. DK Architects in Liverpool have generously contributed their time and expertise, helping us develop our ideas and incorporate them into the building’s design.

How You Can Help

However, before we can make this vision a reality, we need your help.

We need to raise a substantial sum to build the new farm hub and bring these much-needed improvements to life.

We have always kept our charges as low as possible so that everyone can afford to visit Acorn Farm and enjoy a great family day out. However, this approach means we do not generate the large surpluses needed to fund major improvements ourselves.

If you can help us raise the funds needed for the new farm hub, we would be enormously grateful. Please share your fundraising ideas with Becky at admin@acornfarm.co.uk.

Thank you for supporting Acorn Farm and helping us safeguard its future for generations to come.
