Welcome to Acorn Farm
Acorn Farm is an award-winning, family-friendly attraction in Kirkby, Merseyside. We’re open 7 days a week 10am-4pm and there’s always loads to see and do! Whatever the weather, Acorn Farm offers a great value, fun day out for everyone! We have a wide range of animals here at the farm, many of which you can feed and stroke. Our animals include sheep, cows, goats, pigs, horses and chickens, small animals such as rabbits and guinea pigs and even meerkats! We’re a working farm, so we often have baby animals including lambs, goat kids, piglets and chicks to see too. During weekends and school holidays, we run small animal petting sessions and horse rides, and we often have special events happening too. You can even hold your child’s birthday party at Acorn Farm! Please see our Events & Activities page to find out more. The farm’s facilities include two outdoor play areas, a woodland walk, plant sales centre and farm shop selling home-produced free-range meat, eggs and dairy milk ice cream as well as toys, souvenirs, sweets and drinks. Our onsite cafe is open 7 days a week, serving a range of daily specials, hearty homemade meals, desserts, snacks and drinks. We also offer an extensive education programme for schools and community groups and run a Day Service for people with learning disabilities. Please visit our Education Services and Day Services pages for more information.

COVID 19 UPDATE
We are aware that with the easing of the lockdown rules many visitor attractions have now reopened. We have looked into the possibility of Acorn Farm opening to visitors in the near future.
The conclusion which we have reached is that unfortunately, for several reasons, it won’t be possible for us to do so whilst the requirement for social distancing is in place.
Our farm site is small with narrow paths and the lay out does not permit a one-way system therefore there are areas where social distancing isn’t possible. Our toilets are not large enough for staff, the people we support and visitors to use. We have looked into hiring portable toilets but the cost has proved prohibitive.
As a community project we only charge a minimal admission fee (£3 for adults and £2 for children). In order to comply with regulations, we would need to severely limit the number of visitors on the farm site at any 1 time and also employ additional staff to ensure compliance. These would include admin staff for pre booking Admissions, staff to open and close the car park to ensure only visitors with pre booked admission tickets come on the farm, cleaning staff to regularly clean throughout the day etc. The number of visitors permitted on the farm site under current regulations would not generate sufficient income to cover additional costs and hence the farm would be running at a loss.
Additionally, we are not permitted to sell animal feed or allow visitors to stroke the animals (DEFRA guidelines). Due to social distancing requirements horse rides and small animal petting sessions will not be able to run. Consequently, we don’t feel that, at this moment in time, we can provide a quality, value for money visitor experience.
We apologise to all of our visitors and we hope to be able to welcome you back to Acorn Farm as soon as it is safe, for everyone, to do so.
Thank you for your understanding.
